Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
The history Street Fighter III: Third Strike has had in the United States is interesting. Originally not favored by players with its initial release in 1999, the game saw a resurgence after an exhibition series at Evolution 2002 featuring top Japanese and American players (where, to be frank, the American players got their heads handed to them) showing strategies and tactics hereto unknown to most players. After that, a PS2 re-release and one of the most infamous endings to a game in a fighting game tournament ever cemented the game as one of the most popular games in America for several years. While the focus has been shifted to Street Fighter 4, there are still a number of players who will show up at the Northeast Championships to compete.
