General Tournament Rules
All tournaments are run on the console version of the game.
All tournaments are standard double-elimination tournaments, played to a best two out of three games. The number of rounds each game goes is game-dependent. The winners finals, losers finals, and grand finals are best three out of five sets.
You are expected to bring your own controller device to the event. Any commercially-released device that interfaces with the videogame console of choice is allowed. Custom devices are also allowed as long as they do not cause hardware issues, but tournament staff may not allow a device to be used at their discretion. Any additional features on the controller above and beyond the standard hardware spec (auto-fire, slow-motion, programming functions) are not allowed to be used.
In games, button configurations can be changed to your liking (for example, shoulder buttons are allowed to be used). However, buttons can not be bound multiple times (in games that allow that), and multi-button and move shortcuts are not allowed. The one exception to this is in Melty Blood, which has a Quick Action button built into all versions of the game (including the arcade release) and is required for certain moves, and as such is allowed to be used.
As a general rule, exploits in games that lock up the game or cause the game to go into an state where the game can not be finished are forbidden. This includes (but is not limited to) such things as dead body infinities in Marvel vs Capcom 2, Raiden’s super throw glitch in King of Fighters XII, and any number of game-crashing or game-resetting bugs in Killer Instinct. Judgment on issues like this when they occur will be handled by a tournament official on a case-by-case basis.
Players are expected to be available for their scheduled games. If a player is not available when it has been notified that they are due to play a game, tournament staff may at their discretion award a match forfeiture if the player does not show up after five minutes of said opening.
Violence, threats of violence, intimidation, and other forms of unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Any such behavior may result in disciplinary action from match forfiture to being ejected from the entire event (and refunds will not be provided in this instance) to a lifetime ban from the event. All decisions in regards to this will be made by the event director.
Please shower of bathe before the tournament.
All rulings by tournament staff are to be followed. The only person with the authority to overrule a tournament official is the director of the entire event, Big Eric. All rulings by him are final.
Indemnification
All tournament participants shall protect, defend, indemnify and hold harmless the tournament organizers, their respective officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives and employees from and against any and all costs and expenses, damages, claims, suits, actions, liabilities, losses and judgments including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and legal expenses, based on, arising out of or in any way related or connected with the Event or any other matter or activity directly or indirectly related to the Event, including but not limited to libel, slander, disparagement, defamation, copyright infringement, invasion of privacy, piracy, plagiarism, or infringement of any patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property right of any third party. This obligation shall continue beyond the term of the Event.
